Dr Ashok brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his practice, with a background spanning surgical training and practice in the United Kingdom since 1995.
Surgical Experience:
After graduating and completing his post-graduation in India, Dr Ashok transitioned to the UK, where he has served as a Consultant General, Laparoscopic, and Upper GI Surgeon since 2005, following the attainment of his CCST.
He established the advanced laparoscopic unit in Wigan, UK, in 2005, specializing in various general surgical procedures and Upper GI surgery, including advanced laparoscopic procedures such as gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomies, and mini-bypass.
Currently, he is working as a Consultant General Surgeon in Dubai , at Mediclinic Parkview Hospital in Dubai.
Leadership and Contributions:
- Dr Ashok served as the Lead for Upper GI Cancer Services at University Hospital Derby, UK, and contributed as a PEER reviewer for UK National Upper GI Cancer services.
- Dr Ashok has been extensively involved with NICE, aiding in drafting, approving, and publishing 23 NICE Quality Standards Guidelines.
- He has published extensively in peer-reviewed national and international journals and received awards for presentations at national and international forums.
Academic Roles and Teaching Experience:
- Prior to relocating to Dubai, Dr Ashok held academic positions as Honorary Assistant Professor in Surgery for Nottingham University, Senior Clinical Lecturer for Birmingham University, and Associate Professor for Granada University.
- He is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons and has taught extensively to all levels of surgical trainees
